Matthias Ruhl

I graduated from the theory group of MIT's Laboratory for Computer Science in September 2003. After this, I first spent some time as a post-doc at IBM Almaden Research Center. Since June 2004, I am working as a research scientist at Google in Mountain View, California.

My interests are broadly in algorithms and complexity theory, especially for problems that have practical applications. I have worked on problems in peer-to-peer networks, massive data set computations, multi-processor scheduling, network design, and many other areas.

Before coming to MIT, I was a student at the University of Freiburg in Germany from October 1993 until April 1998. I double majored in Mathematics and Computer Science, receiving masters degrees in both subjects.
